The Stylist Den: Vintage and Fashion in the City-Rione Monti-ROME.

A.I. Artisanal Intelligence, the semestral AltaModaRoma magazine is a real treasure chest. In fact, true to its title, it has a 45 pages feature on independent designers/artisans/creative/artists shops/atelier in Rome. I focused in particular on some of them in the Monti area ( Rione Monti), in the heart of Rome, just off Via Cavour and the Colosseum.

I took a stroll of this villlgy, friendly and hip area and browsed thorugh some amazing shops. They fall basicly in three broad categories: vintage shops, boutiques and designers shops/tailor's shops. This last kind of shop caught my attention.

I'm going to show you some pictures of just the ones I found out ( LeNou, Kokoro, Abito- le Gallinelle) but I'm sure that there are some more in the area.

The amazing feature of this designers tailors shops is that they both sell and make their garments in the same space, SO it follows that at the back or the side of the place you see a sewing machine and fabrics all around it. Then, the atmoshpere is really friendly and buzzing and in all of the three shop I walked in there were customers trying clothes on and arranging with the designers alterations and customisazions. That is so special and unique and the strong selling point of these shops. Last but not least, the prices. The pricing was quite convenient, given the fact that you REALLY get an hand made garment and a REAL, personalised customer service. In fact I saw prices of the same range of good quality clothes you can find in chain shops.i.e..€150 for a jacket, €80 for dresses and €60 for a shirt.

A.I. Artisanal Intelligence, il magazine semestrale di AltaModaRoma è uno scrigno del tesoro. Infatti, fedele al titolo, ha una sezione di 45 pagine su negozi/laboratori di stilisti indipendenti/artigiani/creativi/artisti romani. Mi sono concentrato in particolare su alcuni del rione Monti, nel cuore di Roma, incastonato tra Via Cavour e il Colosseo.

Ho fatto una psseggiata in questo quartiere dall'atmosfera amichevole, da piccolo villaggio ma alternativa e ho messo il naso in alcuni negozi favolosi. Fondamentalmente ce ne sono di tre tipi: quelli vintage, le boutique e i negozi/laboratorio. Quest'ultima tipologia mi ha attratto in particolare.

Vi mostrerò le immagini di alcune di quelle che ho visitato, ma, sono sicuro, ce ne sono di altre.

La meravigliosa caratteristica di questi negozi/laboratorio è quella di vendere e di creare gli abiti nello stesso spazio, QUINDI ne segue che in fondo o di lato c'e' la macchina da cucire avista circondata da rotoli o ritagli di tessuto. Inoltre, l'atmosfera era molto gioviale e vivace in tutti e tre i negozi in cui sono entrato e in ognuno c'erano clienti che provavano abiti e discutevano con gli stilisti/creatori/proprietari come alterare e personalizzare quel capo che avrebbero acquistato. Ciò è veramente speciale ed unico ed il vero punto di forza di questi negozi/laboratori. In ultima battuta, i prezzi. Il livello di prezzi è veramente onesto, visto che si compra un capo VERAMENTE fatto a mano e che si riceve un servizio personalizzato. Infatti ho visto prezzi dello stesso livello( senon piu' bassi) di capi di abbigliamento dei negozi tradizionali di media e buona qualità. per esempio 150€ per un giacchetto, 80€ per un vestito o 60€ per una camicia.
