Road Kill Couture by Jess Eaton @Brighton Fashion Week 2012

I promised you that I would write a post dedicated to Jess Eaton and her Road Kill Couture 2 that she showcased during the Zeitgeist Show at Brighton Fashion Week 2012 last week. The reason why I'm blogging separately about it all lies in two simple facts.

1) The way she sources her materials and make her creations 2) The amazing conceptual 'gap' that she manages to bridge between of death and beauty. I don't know her personally but she comes across as a really sensitive person, and the fact that she bothered to explain her 'Road Kill' procedure in a video, just before the collection, points to the fact that she really cares about people understanding her work and get her messagge accross.

Jess Eaton basically makes headpieces, neckpieces, jackets and other accessoriesout of fur, feathers and skin(?)- not sure about this last one - that she mainly gets from animals victims of road kill, pest animal that get killed by farmers and that people bring to her studio. I'm not an animal expert so in the following picture I won't be able to tell you which animal is the material in the following outifts but I'm presenting you the collection as I would do with any other.

Vi avevo promesso che avrei scritto un post dedicato a Jess Eaton e alla sua Road Kill Couture 2 che ha mostrato allo Zeitgeist Show della Brighton Fashion Week 2012 la settimana scorsa. Il motivo per cui posto separatamente su questo argomento risiede in due semplici fattori.

1) Il modo in cui si procura i materiali e crea i suoi capi.  2) Il salto concettuale che riesce a fare tra la morte e la bellezza. Non la conosco personalmente ma risulta essere una persona molto sensibile, ed il fatto che si sia presa il disturbo di spiegare in un video la procedura della sua collezione 'Road Kill', prima della sfilata, indica che ha veramente a cuore che il pubblico capisca il suo lavoro e che il suo messaggio venga ben interpretato.

In parole povere Jess Eaton crea copricapi, accessori da mettere attorno al collo, giacche ed altri accessori con pelliccia, piume e pelle (?) - non sono sicuro di quest'ultima - che ottiene da animali vittime di incidenti stradali (uccisi per strada),uccisi dai contadini in quanto infestano i campi (volpi, conigli?) e che la gente le porta nel suo studio.Non sono un esperto di animali e non saro' in grado di indicarvi da quale animale proviene il materiale dei prossimi look ma vi presento la collezione come fare con qualsiasi altra.
