10 shades of She Said Erotic Boutique

Se si pensa a Brighton, la prima associazione di idee, parlando di moda, e' con il vintage ed il retro. In parte questa associazione e' vera, visti i molti designer e boutique indipendenti che lavorano nel settore. Tuttavia, ieri, dopo un anno e mezzo che sono a Brighton ho visto anche un; altra sfaccettatura di Brighton: quella sexy, glamour ed erotica. 

She Said Erotic Boutique ha festeggiato i suoi dieci anni di attivita'  con champagne, ostriche, shopping, performance burlesque ed un after party. Ho avuto quindi occasione di entrare nella boutique e vedere in prima persona com'e'.

Ancor prima di entrarci, la faccenda diventa subito intrigante vista la location, uno dei 'twitten' piu' belli di Brighton. I 'twitten' sono delle stradine strettissime che corrono tra due o piu' edifici e sono talmente nascoste che o se ne ha conoscenza oppure non si trovano. Un po' come il binario 9 3/4 di Harry Potter.

If you think of Brighton, the first association, in fashion terms, is with vintage and retro. That's partly true, as there are lots of designers and independent boutique that work in this field. But, last night, after a year and half that I'm in Brighton I found out another facet of Brighton: the sexy, glamorous and erotic one.

She Said Erotic Boutique celebrated its tens year of activity with champagne, oysters, shopping, burleque performances and an after party. So I had the chance to pop in the boutique and see how it is.

Even before you get to it, the whole experience is quite intriguing because of the location of the boutique, one of the most faboulous twittens in Brighton. A twitten is a really narrow passageway that you either know or you miss it. A bit like the Harrt Potter 9 3/4 platform.

Ma passiamo a parlare di She Said Boutique. Ho potuto constatare con i miei occhi il perche' dei 10 anni di successo e l'essere stata nominata tra le Top 10 Boutique per Adulti nel Mondo. Dimenticate il solito sexy shop! She Said Boutique, gia' dall'apparenza e' molto di piu': un boudoir elegante, raffinato e ben curato. Inoltre il mix di prodotti e' veramente notevole. Si va dalla lingerie piu' chic a quella piu' sexy, corsetti, guanti, accessori da burlesque fino a maschere in Swarovsky, fruste, frustini e sex toys.

Tutto cio' disponibile ben prima che 50 Shades of Grey rendesse popolare questo mix e questo stile. Anche il sito di She Said Boutique e' piacevole e facile da navigare, con possibilita' di fare shopping online ed un  blog curato, aggiornato e coinvolgente.

But let's talk about the She Said Boutique. I could realise with my own eyes the reason why the place has been successful for ten years and nominated one of the Top 10 Adult Boutique in the World. Forget about the usual sexy shop! She Said Boutique, starting from the way it looks is far superior: an elegant and refined boudoir. The mix of products is awesome too. From chic to sexy lingerie, corsets, gloves, burlesque accessories, to Swarovsky masks, whips, paddles and sex toys.

And all of this has been available way before 50 Shades of Grey made this mix and style so popular.

The webiste is easy and a pleasure to surf, you can shop online and the blog is well written, edited and updated.

Christmas Gift Beauty Guide

Non sto cercando di diventare un beauty blogger, tranquilli! Ultimamente mi sono avventurato tra i 'beauty counter'  per avere delle idee e possibilmente acquistare acquistare alcuni set di Natale da regalare senza spendere un capitale. La mia attenzione e' caduta su smalti e lip-gloss: prodotti poco impegnativi se non si conoscono al 100% i gusti della persona a cui si regalano. Inoltre sono stato anche attratto dal packaging, come nel caso del set House of Holland :-)

Mi sono imbattuto anche in uno smalto 'magnetico' (!); sicuramente voi saprete meglio di me di cosa si tratta - io ho docuto guardare un breve video per capire come funziona. Mi piace!!

Nella mia selezione ho anche incluso un set di smalti dai colori 'let's party' di Fearne Cotton - e' una presentatrice famosa della BBC - ed una palette di ombretti dal packaging vintage. LOL! I matitoni lipstick e i lip crayon sono la versione 'low cost' dei chubby stick della Clinique ( ho fatto i compiti qui eh!) che purtroppo non ho acquistato in tempo online - erano in offerta 6 matitoni a £30! Commenti e critiche ben accetti visto che il settore beauty non e' il mio :-)

I'm not trying to become a beauty fashion blogger, don't worry! Lately I've been exploring beauty counters to have an idea and hopefully buy some Christmas set presents and not spend a fortune. My attention was caught by nail polish and lip gloss: 'easy' products if you don't know the taste of who's receiving the gift. Plus the packaging really influenced my choice, for example the House of Holland set :-) I also 'dicovered' the existence of a 'magnetic' nail poish (!); I'm sure you already know about it - I had to watch a video tutorial to understand how it works. I like it!!

In my selection I included a nail polish set with party colors by Fearne Cotton - a famous BBC presenter - and an eyeshadow palette with a cool vintage packaging. LOL! The chubby lipstick and the lip crayons are a 'low cost' version of the Clinique chubby sticks ( I did my homework here!) that unfortunately I didn't buy online when they were on offer - 6 of them for £30! Comments and criticism welcome as the beauty area is not mine :-)

Matthew Williamson_15 years in fashion_6 looks reissued

Il designer Matthew Williamson festeggia i 15 anni del suo brand - creato nel 1997 - rieditando in esclusiva per Moda Operandi 6 look delle passate stagioni. Un designer apprezzatissimo qui in Inghilterra, oltreoceano, dalle star che lo indossano sul red carpet e conosciuto anche dalla 'massa' per la sua collaborazione con H&M nel 2009. 

Il suo stile, fin dal debutto alla London Fashion Week con la collezione 'Electric Angels', e' caratterizzato da colori vivacissimi, stampe sgargianti e ricami preziosi.

I 6 look non sono certamente 'low cost' - l'abito qui sotto (il mio preferito) costa $6.365 - ma e' veramente un piacere avere la possibilita' di vedere l'evoluzione di uno stilista in una sola schermata e potersi soffermare su un nome che a volte si sorvola a favore di altri piu' longevi e conosciuti.

The designer Matthew Williamson celebrates the 15 years of his label - founded in 1997 - reissuing exclusively for Moda Operandi 6 looks from the past seasons. A well know and loved designer here in England and the US, from celebrities that wear his dresses on the red carpet to the 'masses' that got to know him for his 2009 H&M collaboration.

His style, since the beginning at the London Fashion Week with the collection 'Electric Angels', is defined by bold colors, vivid prints and precious embellishments.

The 6 looks obviously don't come cheap - the dress below ( my favourite) is $6,365 - but it's really a pleasure to have the chance to look at a designer evolution on a single screen shot and have the time to stop and look at a designer that sometimes gets overlooked in favour of long existing and best known ones.

H&M collaboration

ASOS goes Luxury with Covetique

ASOS e' ormai da qualche anno sinonimo di shopping online a prezzi convenienti, di una selezione 'cool' di brand high street e con il proprio nome. Da oggi in poi cambiera', per lo meno un po', vista l'acquisizione del 30% di Covetique, sito di shopping online di rivendita di moda di lusso - solo ed esclusivamente designer da passerella. A breve attraverso il sito ASOS sara' possibile infatti accedere alle vendite di Covetique. Sono andato a guardare personalmente il sito per vedere come funziona e la qualita' dei capi ed accessori in rivendita.

Non poteva che essere tutto piu' che di qualita', dalla grafica alla variteta' dei prezzi e dei capi che si possono acquistare. 

Ogni pezzo e' second hand, ma prima di finire sul sito viene valutato dallo StyleTeam Covetique che ne determina anche il prezzo di rivendita con il consenso di chi li ha spediti per essere messi in vendita.

Al momento, stando ai 'Termini e Condizioni', non e' possibile essere dei 'sellers' se non si abita in Inghilterra, ovviamente si puo' essere dei 'buyers', ma forse (?) una volta che ASOS sara' entrato nell'ingranaggio, sara' possibile anche per venditori esteri vendere tramite ASOS/Covetique. Aspettiamo...

ASOS has been synonymous for a few years now of online shopping at great prices, a cool selection of high street brands and its own. From now on that is going to change, at least a bit, as ASOS has just bought a 30% share in Covetique, an online reseller of luxury fashion. Soon it'll be possible through the ASOS website to access Covetique's offers. I browsed the Covetique site to see how it works and the quality of the items resold.

Obviously, as ASOS decided to invest in it, the qulity it's great, from the design of the site to the offers on it.

Every item is second hand, but before landing on the site gets approved by the Covetique StyleTeam that also determines a selling price to be agreed by the 'seller'.

At the moment, after haveing read the 'Terms and Conditions', it's not possible to be a 'seller' if you live outside the Uk, obviously you can be a 'buyer', but maybe (?) once ASOS is fully in the picture, it'll be possible for sellers abraod to send their luxury items to ASOS/Covetique. We'll wait and see...
